Rahmad: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Ilmu Al-Qur’an
Rahmad: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Ilmu Al-Qur’an recognizes that Artificial Intelligence (AI), including generative AI and AI-assisted technologies, may be used as supporting tools in academic research and scholarly publishing. The use of AI must be conducted responsibly, transparently, ethically, and in accordance with the principles of academic integrity.
This policy applies to Authors, Editors, Reviewers, and other parties involved in the editorial and publication process of RAHMAD.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to computational technologies capable of generating, processing, analyzing, translating, summarizing, or transforming text, images, data, or other forms of content.
AI tools may include, but are not limited to, generative AI and large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other comparable technologies.
AI may be used only as an assisting tool and must not replace the intellectual responsibility, scholarly judgment, critical analysis, or accountability of Authors, Editors, or Reviewers.
All parties involved in the publication process remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, confidentiality, and ethical compliance of their work.
Authors may use AI or AI-assisted tools in the preparation of manuscripts, provided that such use does not compromise academic integrity, originality, confidentiality, or the accuracy of the published work.
Authors are required to:
Disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools when such tools have been used substantively in preparing the manuscript.
Clearly state the name of the AI tool and its purpose of use, particularly when AI has been used for generating, substantially revising, translating, summarizing, or otherwise developing the manuscript.
Carefully verify all AI-generated content, including factual statements, interpretations, quotations, references, citations, translations, and other scholarly information.
Take full responsibility for the final content of the manuscript, regardless of whether AI tools were used in its preparation.
Ensure that the use of AI does not result in plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, misrepresentation, copyright infringement, or any other form of academic misconduct.
Not list AI tools, AI systems, or similar technologies as authors or co-authors. Authorship is reserved for individuals who meet accepted authorship requirements and can take responsibility for the work.
Not use AI to fabricate research data, research findings, quotations, references, citations, or other scholarly evidence.
Not upload confidential, unpublished, personal, or sensitive research materials to public AI systems when such action could compromise confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property, or research participants' rights.
When generative AI has been used substantively in the preparation of a manuscript, Authors should provide an appropriate disclosure statement in the manuscript.
For example:
"During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool and version, if available] for [describe the purpose of use]. The authors reviewed and edited the output and take full responsibility for the content of the published article."
Routine use of tools for spelling, grammar, formatting, or similar language assistance does not necessarily require a detailed disclosure unless otherwise required by the journal or the nature of the use.
AI tools must not be used to fabricate, manipulate, or falsify research data or research findings.
If AI is used as part of the research methodology, data analysis, or another substantive research process, Authors must describe its use appropriately in the relevant section of the manuscript, including the tool or system used and its role in the research where applicable.
Authors remain responsible for verifying the accuracy, reliability, reproducibility, and ethical implications of any AI-assisted research process.
Editors may use AI-assisted tools only for limited administrative or technical purposes that do not compromise editorial confidentiality, scholarly judgment, or the integrity of the editorial process.
Editors must:
Maintain independent human responsibility for all editorial decisions.
Not delegate editorial decisions, acceptance or rejection decisions, or substantive assessment of manuscripts to AI systems.
Not upload unpublished manuscripts, confidential reviewer reports, personal information, or other confidential editorial materials to public generative AI systems.
Protect the confidentiality of manuscripts and all information obtained during the editorial process.
Verify information produced by AI tools before relying on it for editorial or administrative purposes.
Ensure that the use of AI does not introduce bias, discrimination, confidentiality breaches, or other forms of misconduct into the editorial process.
AI may assist editorial work, but final editorial decisions must always remain the responsibility of qualified human editors.
Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality and integrity of manuscripts submitted to RAHMAD.
Reviewers are prohibited from using generative AI or similar AI systems to evaluate, summarize, analyze, or generate the substantive content of a peer-review report by uploading or entering the manuscript or any confidential part of it into an AI system.
Reviewers must:
Treat manuscripts and all information obtained through peer review as confidential.
Not upload manuscripts, manuscript excerpts, unpublished data, figures, tables, reviewer materials, or other confidential information into public or third-party generative AI systems.
Not use AI to replace their own scholarly assessment of the manuscript.
Prepare review comments and recommendations based on their own academic expertise and critical judgment.
Inform the Editor if they have concerns regarding AI-generated content or possible inappropriate use of AI in a manuscript.
Remain fully responsible for the accuracy, fairness, confidentiality, and scholarly integrity of their review.
The use of AI by Reviewers to conduct or generate the substantive peer-review assessment is not permitted.
Authors must ensure that any images, figures, tables, illustrations, or other materials included in a manuscript are accurate, appropriately attributed, and legally usable.
Generative AI must not be used to create, manipulate, or alter research evidence in a manner that misrepresents the underlying research, data, or findings.
Where AI-assisted image generation or modification forms part of the legitimate research methodology, its use must be transparently disclosed and appropriately described in the manuscript.
Authors remain responsible for copyright, intellectual property, attribution, and ethical issues associated with any AI-assisted visual material.
The use of AI does not exempt Authors, Editors, or Reviewers from the standards of academic integrity.
Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI may be considered a violation of publication ethics where it results in plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, manipulation of research findings, misrepresentation of authorship, violation of confidentiality, copyright infringement, or other forms of academic misconduct.
RAHMAD may request clarification or additional information regarding suspected inappropriate AI use.
Where a violation is established, the journal may take appropriate editorial action in accordance with its publication ethics and applicable scholarly publishing standards. Such actions may include requesting correction, rejecting a manuscript, issuing a correction or retraction for a published article, or notifying the relevant institution when appropriate.
AI tools do not bear authorship, editorial, or reviewer responsibility.
Authors remain responsible for the content, originality, accuracy, interpretation, references, and ethical integrity of their manuscripts.
Editors remain responsible for editorial decisions.
Reviewers remain responsible for their peer-review assessments.
The use of AI must therefore always remain subject to meaningful human oversight and professional academic judgment.
All users of AI tools involved in the publication process must protect confidential information, personal data, unpublished research, intellectual property, and other sensitive materials.
Manuscripts submitted to RAHMAD are confidential materials. Such materials must not be entered into AI systems where doing so may expose, store, reuse, or otherwise compromise confidential information.
Authors, Editors, and Reviewers are responsible for complying with applicable privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, and research ethics requirements.
This AI Policy will be reviewed periodically by the Editorial Board of RAHMAD to ensure that it remains consistent with developments in scholarly publishing, academic integrity, applicable regulations, and recognized publication-ethics standards.
Any amendments to this policy will be published on the official RAHMAD journal website.
